Public hearing an action on request by Santa Barbara County to amend the certified Land Use Plan and Zoning Ordinance to address development of offshore oil reserves from onshore locations via directional ("slant") drilling technology, includes amendment of AG-II zone district to permit such development only with major conditional use permit in Gaviota or Las Floras Canyon Consolidated Oil & Gas Planning areas, and override current 50 ft. height restrictions to allow drilling rigs of 200 ft. for approved projects. BUS TOUR. At 3:00 p.m., or at the conclusion of the Commission agenda whichever is later, the Commission will make a bus tour traveling first around the west side of Arcata Bay past Woodley Island, the Samoa Dunes, and the Arcata Marsh before journeying north along the Redwood Highway to scenic Trinidad and the state parks at Patricks Point and Big Lagoon.
